On the occasion of World Meditation Day, Department of Psychiatry, Sri Lalithambigai Medical College and Hospital, Organised Lecture cum public awareness programme on stress management and meditation techniques.
The benefits of meditation have been widely researched, from mental to physical health. There is evidence to show that it improves conditions of anxiety, stress, attention and sleep as well as blood pressure and pain. Meditation is doable anywhere. There is no equipment needed to practice, with many different techniques and it can take just a few minutes a day. There are also many resources out there to aid us in practising meditation from YouTube videos to Apps. Meditation is a potent tool to discovering new dimensions within us. It’s an art that lets us unplug from the chatter of the world outside and plug into our core. A few minutes spent meditating not only brings relief to our body but also calms and soothes our mind.
Our vision is for World Meditation Day to be celebrated across the globe, so that people everywhere can take the opportunity to press pause and reboot.
