Endometriosis Awareness takes place across the globe during the month of March with a mission to raise awareness of a disease which affects an estimated 200 million worldwide. To address this issue World Health Organization has shared the key facts, social and economic benefits of awareness on endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition that affects females, where the tissue that is similar to that of endometrial tissue grows outside the ovary. The primary symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain, often associated with menstrual periods. Although many experience cramping during their menstrual periods, those with endometriosis typically describe menstrual pain that’s far worse than usual. Pain also may increase over time.

Endometriosis can be a challenging condition to manage. An early diagnosis, a multidisciplinary medical team and an understanding of the disease may result in better management of symptoms.
